§ Mr. Mikardoasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that a number of companies have recently taken action not in accordance with his dividend limitation policy; and whether he will now make this policy compulsory.
§ Mr. GaitskellI do not consider that the failure of a small minority of companies to co-operate in the voluntary policy would justify any immediate departure from that policy. As my right hon. and learned Friend has stated several times, he deplores increases in the amounts distributed by way of dividend.
