§ 55. Commander Nobleasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply has been received to His Majesty's Government's protest to the Egyptian 180W Government on 12th August about restrictions on oil tankers using the Suez Canal.
§ Mr. Ernest DaviesThe Egyptian Government have replied to His Majesty's Government's protest of 12th August claiming that the new regulations are designed to facilitate the passage of tankers and their cargo through the Suez Canal to destinations other than Israel. They are willing to modify the regulations if they prove impracticable. The Egyptian reply is unsatisfactory and we consider the regulations unreasonable.
