HC Deb 14 September 1950 vol 478 c169W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table showing how much increase in pay is given to the officers of the different grades of the Royal Navy, and a further statement of how much this amounts to in the money they actually get to spend after having deducted the various taxes and charges they have to pay.

Mr. Callaghan

I would refer the hon. Member to the White Paper on Service Emoluments, Command 8027, which gives in Appendix I the increases in pay for the various ranks of officers in the Royal Navy. With regard to the second part of the Question, the extent to which officers' pay is subject to tax and other deductions depends on individual circumstances, and no general statement can be made.
