HC Deb 26 October 1950 vol 478 c386W
Mr. Perkins

asked the Minister of Health why the whole clerical staff of Hortham Brentry hospital group have been summarily dismissed by the staff committee without reason being given and without consultation.

Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Health what is the reason for the dismissal of the staff of the Hortham Brentry hospital group without previous consultation with the men concerned, some of whom have given satisfactory service for many years; why these posts are to be advertised as vacant if these men do not ask for their jobs back before the end of October; and if he will consult the men before any further action is taken.

Mr. Bevan

I understand that a small number of the staff have been given notice with a view to the reorganisation and re-grading of the work. They are being offered an opportunity of re-employment. But I am looking further into the matter and will write to the hon. Members as soon as my investigations are completed.
