§ Mr. BarnesMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I have very recently discussed this matter with representatives of the corporation of Glasgow. We indicated that in present economic circumstances the restrictions on capital investment made it impossible to forecast when the commencement of a scheme of this magnitude could be authorised. We did, however, undertake to consider the question further in the light of the discussion and of additional information to be submitted by the corporation.
