§ 56. Mr. Pickthornasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he now estimates the total gain of output relatively 261W to employment, namely, of productivity, during the last three years at more or at less than 1¾ per cent.
§ Mr. JayOver the three years ending June, 1950, the increase in the output of the manufacturing, building, mining and public utility industries was about 30 per cent. The increase in the numbers employed in the same industries over the same period was 5 per cent. No official estimate of output is available for other sectors of the economy.
