HC Deb 18 October 1950 vol 478 c243W
6. Mr. Marples

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what restrictions are imposed on the movements of our diplomatic and consular representatives in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Roumania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Jugoslavia; and whether any corresponding restrictions are imposed on their representatives in this country.

Mr. Bevin

As regards Bulgaria, Roumania and the U.S.S.R., I have nothing to add to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for Lewes on 16th March. Except forad hoc limitations on movements in certain military areas, there are no restrictions in any of the other countries named except Hungary, where the staff of His Majesty's Embassy are forbidden to enter a zone about 10 miles deep along the Yugoslav frontier. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.
