HC Deb 29 November 1950 vol 481 c149W
41. Mr. Gammans

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how much money has been expended by the Kenya Government in roads, water and other services for the military base at Mackinnon Road, and to what extent this money is to be reimbursed in view of the fact that the base has now been abandoned.

Mr. Dugdale

The total expenditure incurred by the Kenya Government to date is £430,000 on roads and £17,700 on a civil township. In answer to the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 22nd November by my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for War to the hon. and gallant Member for Dumfries (Mr. N. Macpherson).
