§ 76. Mr. H. Hyndasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress has been made in the development of a pineapple industry in Jamaica and in the formation of a Pineapple Growers' Cooperative Association.
Mr. DugdaleThe Government of Jamaica plan to increase the acreage under pineapples from 200 to 3,000 acres. As the first step, expert advice on varieties and cultural methods is being sought through the Economic Co-operation Administration. Import of planting material is to follow. Co-operative development among growers is being promoted through the Jamaica Agricultural Society.
