§ Mr. Llewellynasked the President of the Board of Trade when the new price increases of cotton, utility cotton and rayon goods, consequent upon the acceptance by his Department of the interim recommendations of the cotton and rayon trade committees, are likely to take effect.
Mr. H. WilsonI expect that the orders giving effect to the increased maximum prices for the existing specifications of utility cotton goods which were recommended by the Cotton Utility Scheme Committee will come into operation early in December. The broader specifications for both cotton and rayon cloths are still being discussed with the garment makers. I hope that it will be possible to conclude these discussions in time for a new order for rayon cloths to be brought into force before the end of the year, but the broader specifications for utility cotton goods are unlikely to be in force before the end of January.
