§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what steps have been taken to convey to the people of the Commonwealth who have sent gifts to the Lord Mayor's National Disaster Fund to help those who suffered during the winter floods of 1946–47, the warm thanks of the people of Britain for their generosity.
§ Mr. Gordon-WalkerI invite the attention of my hon. Friend to the statement which was made by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister in reply to his Question on 24th April, 1947, in which the Prime Minister expressed our profound gratitude to all those in the overseas countries of the Commonwealth who had so magnificently contributed to the relief of distress caused by the disastrous floods in 1947. The Prime Minister's statement was communicated to the Governments120W of the Commonwealth countries concerned by the United Kingdom High Commissioners in Ottawa, Canberra, Wellington, and Pretoria.
