HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 c38W
Mr. Emrys Roberts

asked the Postmaster-General how many applications for telephones are now outstanding in the county of Merioneth; how many applicants have been waiting for over 12 months; and what action is being taken to supply the demand.

Mr. Ness Edwards

On 30th September, 1950, there were 466 outstanding applications, of which 311 had been waiting for over 12 months. In several parts of the county additional exchange equipment and line plant will be provided in the next two years, but with continuing restrictions on our capital resources I regret that I cannot say when it will be possible to overtake arrears.
