HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 c28W
88. Mr. Osborne

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what was the cost of the Work-or-Want publicity campaign; if he is satisfied with its results; and why it was dropped.

Mr. Jay

About £165,000 was spent on posters and Press advertisements using these words. The answer to the second part of the Question is "yes," and, to the third, that by the time it was dropped it was considered to have done its job. Economic publicity has continued with increasing emphasis upon the needs of specialised groups and audiences.
