84. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware that the National Union of Manufacturers is not given the opportunity to nominate representatives of industry, whose appointments are made by him to the National Production Advisory Council on Industry, over which he presides; and if he will alter this position, in view of the fact that in all other important industrial matters the Government consults the National Union of Manufacturers.

The answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes;" and, to the second part, that I see no reason to depart from my predecessor's decision in this matter.
