HC Deb 21 November 1950 vol 481 c30W
98. Mr. John MacLeod

asked the President of the Board of Trade why, according to the reply which he gave on Tuesday, 14th March, a site for industrial development was selected at Muir of Ord without consultations taking place with the local district council and the local amenities committee.

Mr. Bottomley

The Muir of Ord site was one of a number regarded as suitable for industry by the Board of Trade and the Department of Health for Scotland when they undertook a survey last year into the general question of possible industrial developments in the Highlands. I can assure the hon. Member that any proposal to develop the site would be the subject of consultation with the local planning authority.
