§ 153. Mr. Ian Harveyasked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider steps, such as the prohibition of horse-drawn transport and the restricting of private vehicles not on business errands, to ease the traffic congestion in the Metropolitan area.
§ Mr. BarnesRestrictions on slow-moving traffic including horse-drawn vehicles already operate on certain Central London streets, and I may have to consider extending these restrictions.202W There are, however, considerable difficulties in restricting private vehicles. Both these matters, as well as other measures, will, I understand, be dealt with in the report of the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee on traffic congestion in Central London. I hope to receive this report by the end of the year.
