94. Mr. Leslie Haleasked the Minister of Labour in what circumstances he regards himself as being answerable to Parliamentary Questions in respect of a stoppage of work in industry.
§ Mr. IsaacsI am answerable to Parliament in respect of the functions conferred on me under the Conciliation Act, 1896, the Industrial Courts Act, 1919, and the Conditions of Employment and National Arbitration Orders, 1940–1950, in relation to trade disputes whether or not they involve stoppages of work. In regard to Questions concerning the Conditions of Employment and National Arbitration Orders, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which the Prime Minister gave to the hon. Member for Sutton Coldfield (Sir J. Mellor) on 17th October.
