§ 81. Squadron Leader A. E. Cooperasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the delays at present taking place in the transfer of funds from Brazil to this country in settlement of current trading debts; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this.
§ Mr. GaitskellHis Majesty's Government are concerned at the present delays in payments to British exporters, which are to some extent due to a seasonal shortage of sterling in Brazil, and are already discussing with the Brazilian authorities ways and means of expediting payment. I do not think that any useful purpose would be served at present by making formal representations.
