§ 95. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many development officers have been recruited by the Government of Nigeria; how many of these are Africans; and what training is being given to the officers to enable them, subsequently, to enter the administrative or technical branches of Government service.
Mr. DugdaleThere are at present 116 development officers in Nigeria, 17 of whom are Africans. Normally an African wishing to secure training for senior administrative or technical posts would seek a scholarship award from the Central Public Service Board, which makes recommendations to the Governor.
