§ Mr. DaltonA special allocation of steel was made in 1949 for the reconstruction of blitzed city centres, enabling a start to be made on the building of shops, offices, and other projects, to a total value of about £6 million. In addition, a number of compulsory purchase orders for land within the blitzed areas were confirmed by my Department.
