HC Deb 18 May 1950 vol 475 c179W
82. Mr. T. Reid

asked the Minister of Health what steps he is taking to ensure the erection of flats or small houses for old people without dependants with a view to enabling them to quit houses which they no longer need nor wish to retain.

Mr. Bevan

I am sending the hon. Member a copy of a circular issued last November which dealsinter alia with this question. It is, of course, for each local authority to decide exactly how much of its housing should be devoted to the needs of old persons, but I have asked all housing authorities to review their programmes with this and other special needs in mind.
