109. Brigadier Clarkeasked the Minister of Supply if he will make representations to the motor manufacturing industry, through the National Advisory Council, to give priority sales to ex-Service men who have lost one or both legs.
§ Mr. G. R. StraussThe industry is already rendering valuable assistance to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Pensions in the supply of cars to certain classes of seriously disabled ex-Service men. Otherwise, in distributing cars, the motor industry gives priority only to urgent orders from doctors and midwives. I am not prepared to ask them to extend these arrangements, in view of the large number of other classes of users with good claims between whom it would be difficult to discriminate.
