HC Deb 04 May 1950 vol 474 c225W
78. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyre

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many prosecutions have been brought against British citizens for selling £1 notes abroad.

Mr. Gaitskell

None. But I should like to emphasise that it is an offence against the Exchange Control Act, 1947, for United Kingdom residents to sell sterling notes outside the Scheduled Territories.
