HC Deb 04 May 1950 vol 474 c240W
150. Dr. Stross

asked the Minister of Food whether he will insist on the sole use of chlorine dioxide as a flour preserver since it appears to have no ill-effects on animals.

Mr. F. T. Willey

I do not propose to insist on the sole use of chlorine dioxide as a flour improver, because the only flour improver which has been shown to have ill effects on animals is nitrogen trichloride or " agene." I am glad to be able to assure my hon. Friend that the use of this is being discontinued in favour of chlorine dioxide.
