§ 83. Mr. Rankinasked the President of of the Board of Trade when ex gratia payments to United Kingdom subjects in respect of losses incurred as a result of Japanese occupation will be made, in view of the fact that claims submitted in July, 1949, have not yet been met nor have applicants received any information from his Department as to when payments will be made.
§ Mr. BottomleyPayments under the scheme, which my right hon. Friend announced on the 27th June last in reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Chesterfield (Mr. Benson), are being made to applicants permanently resident in the United Kingdom, as soon as their applications have been examined and approved; they are dealt with as far as possible in rotation. Applications received in my Department as long ago as July last would normally have been dealt with by now. If my hon. Friend will send me particulars of any cases he has in mind, I will look into them.
