Hyndasked the Minister of Labour when the following Conventions of the International Labour Office will be ratified by the United Kingdom: The Eight-hour Day, The Maternity, The Use of White Lead in Paint, Weekly Rest in Industry, Repatriation of Seamen, Night Work in Bakeries, Marking of Weight on Heavy Packages for Transport by Sea, Hours of Work in Offices, Hours of Work in Coalmines, Annual Holidays with Pay and Holidays with Pay for Seamen.
§ Mr. IsaacsI assume that the hon. Member is referring to Conventions Numbers 1, 3, 13, 14, 20, 23, 27, 30, 46, 52 and 91. Convention No. 91 was adopted at the 32nd Session of the International Labour Conference (1949). The policy of His Majesty's Government in relation to the instruments adopted at this Session of the Conference is at present under consideration. For reasons which have previously been made public it is not at present proposed to ratify any of the other Conventions referred to.
