HL Deb 15 March 1950 vol 166 cc295-6WA
LORD MANCROFT

asked His Majesty's Government what is standing in the way of a resumption of the telephone service between the United Kingdom and Malaya, and how soon they expect that such obstructions as there are will be removed.

THE EARL OF LUCAN

The resumption of the radio-telephone service between the United Kingdom and Malaya has necessitated the provision of radiotelephone equipment at the relay point in Nairobi and at the terminal at Singapore. The installations are completed except for a small amount of work which is outstanding at Nairobi. Subject to satisfactory tests it is hoped to reopen service by the middle of this year.

House adjourned at twenty-two minutes before six o'clock.
