§ 11. Mr. Osborneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what response he has received to his appeal for volunteers for the Civil Defence Services; how many are needed to man these Services; and how many have enrolled.
§ Mr. EdeFrom 15th November to the end of January approximately 32,000 volunteers enrolled in the Civil Defence and Allied Services in England and Wales. The ultimate requirements of the Civil Defence Services have not yet been settled, but they will certainly be many times greater than the existing number of recruits.
