§ Mr. Digbyasked the Minister of Health why he will not allow the Sherborne Rural District Council to issue any more licences for houses to be built privately until some time during 1951; and why the issue of licences at the present date should have any relation to the council's 1948 allocation.
§ Mr. BevanThe position has already been explained to the hon. Member in correspondence. During 1948 and 1949, the council exceeded the proportion of their allocations which could be used for private building, and the balance cannot be redressed until 1951. They should be able to resume the issue of licences out of their allocation for that year.
