§ 84. Mr. H. Brookeasked the Minister of Labour whether he will give an assurance that before granting permits to foreign girls to come to this country to take posts as typists or shorthand-typists, he will take into account the numbers of middle-aged British women who are well qualified for this kind of employment but are finding it harder to get work on account of age.
§ Mr. IsaacsPermits would not be granted for the admission of foreigners for such employment unless, among other things, I was satisfied that suitable British subjects or resident foreigners were not available for the employment.
