103. Air-Commodore Harveyasked the Minister of Transport what arrangements he is making to deal with London traffic problems, in particular with regard to the parking of cars during the period covering the Festival of Britain.
§ 104. Brigadier Medlicottasked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that the car parking problem in the London area is already serious and will become acute during the Festival of Britain; and if he will make a statement as to the plans which are being made to deal with this situation.
§ Mr. BarnesI am fully conscious of the difficulties of car parking in London. The London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee have set up a special sub-committee to examine the problem and to report to me. The London County Council have made provisional arrangements to deal with car parking for the Festival. It is expected that car parks for several thousand cars will be available for visitors to the Exhibition sites, together with provision for over 1,000 coaches on Clapham Common and in Regent's Park.
