Friend is aware, under the Industrial Injuries Act a pneumoconiosis medical board can only suspend a person from the mining industry if that person is suffering from tuberculosis, or from pneumoconiosis accompanied by tuberculosis. The number of miners so suspended during 1949 was 84, of whom 42 were in South Wales.
