Mr. Heathcoat Amoryasked the Minister of Health whether the Whitley Council's recommendations on rates of pay for hospital nursing staffs above the rank of ward sister have yet been received; and, if not, whether hospital boards have authority to proceed without further delay to fix new salary scales.
§ Mr. BevanI understand that the Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council has now reached agreement on the salaries of most of the senior hospital grades, and that those of the rest are under consideration. Hospital authorities will be given details as soon as possible.
