§ Sir P. Macdonaldasked the Minister of Health whether he will give up-to-date information about the present intake of students into dental schools; whether there has recently been any decrease in the numbers; and, if so, for what reason.
§ Mr. BevanThe annual pre-war intake of students in dental schools in the United Kingdom was about 400. The corresponding figure now is between 600 and 700, fluctuating according to the places available. The number of applicants greatly exceeds the number of vacancies and I would refer the hon. Member to the last part of my reply to the Question asked by the hon. Member for Barking (Mr. Hastings) on 25th May.
