§ 91. Mr. Blackburnasked the Minister of Health how many local authorities have taken powers to prevent the undue pollution of the atmospheres in their localities by smoke or noxious fumes; and what steps he proposes to take to introduce general legislation on the subject.
§ Mr. BevanEight authorities have smokeless zone powers; 17 have powers to control the installation of industrial furnaces; and 48 have district heating powers. I propose to see how these new powers operate in practice before considering general legislation.
