§ 38. Mr. Hylton-Fosterasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many detention centres have now been provided; and what proportion of the courts concerned have been notified by him that a detention centre is available for the reception of persons ordered to be detained there.
§ Mr. EdeOwing to the restrictions on capital investment, it is not possible to provide new building for this purpose in the immediate future. The Prison Commissioners are however proposing to set up one or two experimental centres in adapted premises, and it is hoped that these may be ready for occupation next year.
