§ Mr. EdeI am confident that chief officers of police take such steps as are open to them to bring to the notice of shopkeepers the steps that can be taken to protect their property against breaking 119W offences, and this aspect of crime prevention has been emphasised in most of the local campaigns organised in consultation with the Central Office of Information and the Home Office. I have received encouraging reports of the success of these local campaigns, and I do not think that any further action on my part is necessary at present.
