GriffithsThe research into the "unknown disease" of coconuts in Jamaica, started in 1943, was delayed by difficulty in recruiting scientists and the plant pathologist now in charge only took up his duties in February, 1949. Investigation is proceeding in accordance with the plans he has drawn up. The reports received so far do not show whether or not it will be possible to discover the cause of the disease, or to control it.
