§ Mr. ShinwellAn officer who has attained the normal retiring age laid down for his rank may remain in the Service only if there is suitable employment for him. Naval ratings and airmen who have completed time for pension are, with a few exceptions, being retained in the Service at present. Soldiers who have completed time for pension are not being compulsorily retained; they may apply to continue in the Service under normal rules.
