§ 113. Mr. Stewardasked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve personnel are now refused payment for expenses for attending non-continuous training in excess of 130 hours; and, in view of the present emergency, if he will take steps to encourage extra training effort on the part of individuals by authorising payment of such expenses incurred.
§ Mr. A. HendersonThe requirement for non-continuous training in the R.A.F. Volunteer Reserve is 130 hours for pilots and navigators and 100 hours for signallers, but personnel may voluntarily put in a further 60 training hours, for which they receive payment. Though these hours are ordinarily ample to maintain 173W efficiency, payment is also made in cases where extra training can be provided which would have a useful purpose.
