Mr. Gammansasked the President of the Board of Trade what is the value since the end of the war of exports of electrical generating machinery and equipment of all sorts which could be used either in the building of new generating stations or in the extension or modernisation of old stations; and what is the value of such equipment sent specifically to countries beyond the Iron Curtain.
§ Mr. RhodesEquipment intended for use in generating stations is not separately distinguished in the Trade Accounts, but the value of electrical generating equipment of a type used in power stations produced between January, 1946, and September, 1950, for export amounted to £32 million. Less than £2½ million of this total went to countries beyond the Iron Curtain.
