HC Deb 04 December 1950 vol 482 c24W
122. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what is his estimate of the quantity of coal required for the armament drive in 1951; and what is the approximate number of miners likely to be employed for this purpose.

Mr. P. Noel-Baker

A programme of industrial requirements of coal is drawn up for each period of six months; it is based on the best estimate that can be made of the needs of each industrial undertaking for the period. No separate assessment can be made of that part of the total which may be needed for any special purpose, such as the manufacture of armaments.
