asked the Minister of Fuel and Power to state the stocks of coal held by the British Electricity Authority in May, 1949, and in May, 1950; the present stocks of coal, compared with the corresponding period last year; the present weekly deliveries, compared with the corresponding period last year; and the present weekly consumption, compared with the corresponding period last year.

Stocks of coal held by the British Electricity Authority were 2,827,200 tons on 1st May, 1950; on the corresponding date last year they were 3,084,700. On 24th November, 1950, they amounted to 3,851,800 tons; on the same date last year they were 4,295,300 tons. Deliveries of coal to the British Electricity Authority's power stations in the four weeks ended 24th November, 1950, were 2,548,900 tons; in the corresponding period of 1949 they were 2,418,600 tons. Consumption during the same four weeks was 2,830,900 tons in 1950, and 2,570,700 in 1949.
