§ Mr. Llewellynasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that there has been a rise of 13 points in the Official Index of Retail Prices since 181W June, 1947, and that, in order to meet this rise retirement pensions would have to be increased from 26s. a week, with 16s. for a wife, to 29s. 6d. and 18s., respectively, he will consider during the preparation of his Budget, how old age pensioners may be best protected from the burden of the rising cost of living.
