asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an undertaking that, before considering the recent representations made to him to allocate extra dollars for petrol for motoring, he will allocate the full sum necessary to increase the sugar ration.

No. The Government does not treat these individual claims for dollar expenditure piecemeal, but works to a dollar expenditure programme, financed by Marshall aid and from our dollar earnings, which seeks to make the best use of our dollar resources in the national interest.
