HC Deb 27 September 1949 vol 468 c2W
Mr. Granville

asked the Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that during recent months planes have flown over towns and villages in Suffolk at a height of 40 or 50 feet, scaring children and frightening cattle; and what steps he is prepared to take to stop this practice of low flying over inhabited areas.

Mr. de Freitas

Authorised low-flying areas and routes have been carefully planned to give the least possible disturbance to the civilian population. Low-flying practice is an essential part of aircrew training and it is not possible altogether to avoid low flying over Suffolk.
