§ Mr. Boyd-Carpenterasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what information he now has as to the health 7W and conditions of living of Cardinal Mindszenty; and what action he is taking in view of Hungary's obligations under the Peace Treaty to secure adequate information.
§ Mr. MayhewI regret that I have received no reliable information on the subject, nor is it open to His Majesty's Government to take any specific action to secure such information. As the hon. Member will be aware, the general issue raised by the failure of the Hungarian Government to observe the Human Rights clauses of the Peace Treaty is at present being considered by the United Nations.
