HC Deb 28 October 1949 vol 468 cc195-6W
Miss Colman

asked the Minister of Food what percentage of the total annual supply of eggs is allocated to the domestic ration, manufacturers, confectioners, and catering establishments respectively.

Mr. Strachey

Of the shell eggs purchased by my Department during the year ended 30th September, 1949, 95.9 per cent. were distributed to domestic consumers including the priority classes and permanent residents in catering establishments, 2.2 per cent. to catering establishments and 1.9 per cent. to the Services, N.A.A.F.I. and ships' stores. None was issued to manufacturers and confectioners, who receive dried eggs and frozen liquid eggs.
