§ Sir E. Graham-Littleasked the Minister of Health if, in view of his undertaking that there shall be free choice of patients by doctors and of doctors by patients, he will state why and under what regulation he assigns patients to doctors, and doctors to patients.
§ Mr. BevanThe power to assign patients to doctors is conferred by Regulation 13 of the National Health Service (General Medical and Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations, 1948, made in purpursuance of Section 33 (2) (c) of the National Health Service Act, 1946. Persons are assigned only at their request.
