§ 53. Mr. Randallasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what was the amount of the increase of allowances, non-taxable, given to foreign service officers with effect from 1st October. 1949: and the reasons for the increases.
§ Mr. MayhewForeign allowances payable to Foreign Service officers have been increased by £521,290 a year with effect from 1st October, 1949. This increase is due to a reduction in the exchange value of sterling following devaluation.
